The winning story will be published on 'Talking Books', the Oxfam Book Blog, as well as on The Big Issue website and the writer will get a supermarket-sweep-style dash round an Oxfam shop and a £50 Blackwells book voucher.
Stories can be any subject/style but no longer than 2000 words. Please do not submit work that has already been published. Your entry must be printed, labelled with your name, email and phone number and handed into either Oxfam Whitworth Park, 300 - 302 Oxford Road, or the Oxfam Emporium, 8-10 Oldham Street, with the £3 entry fee, by the deadline of the 31st of May.
The winning piece will be announced at a Short Story Party on the 15th July at the Oxfam Emporium.

Adele Geras , born in Jerusalem in 1944, was an actress, singer and a French teacher before becoming a full-time writer in 1976. She’s published more than ninety books for children and young adults and has written four novels for adults published by Orion. She has lived in Manchester for 40 years. http://www.adelegeras.com/
Nicholas Royle was born in Manchester in 1963. He is the author of five novels – Counterparts, Saxophone Dreams, The Matter of the Heart, The Director’s Cut and Antwerp – and one short story collection, Mortality. He has edited 12 anthologies. David Gaffney was born in West Cumbria and lives in Manchester. He is the author of Sawn Off Tales, Aromabingo, Never Never, and other stories, including one using lost cat posters (Buildings Crying Out), another called Destroy PowerPoint in PowerPoint format and a set of short stories about every junction on the M62 (23 Stops To Hull).
